Laurel Lake Needs Lifeguards

Laurel Lake is looking for lifeguards for the Summer, 2025 Season. The position offers excellent pay, along with Great working conditions and hours.

Lifeguard training is available at:


The  Holly City Family Center, Mulberry Street in Millville. 

Both Certification and Recertification  Classes are being planned. Please call 856-293-0609 with questions.


NOTE: In addition to the basic Lifeguard Certification, an additional Open Water Endorsement is required



New Certification Classses are  being held with 2 sessions to choose from: Saturday and Sunday, April 26 and 27 from 8 am to 4 pm and Monday, April 28 4 to 9 pm. 


RECERTIFICATION Class will be Sunday, March 16 from 9 am to 5 pm.


 

LIFEGUARD TRAINING COURSE PREREQUISITES:

  • Must be 15 years old on or before your final scheduled class date.
  • Must pass pre-test including swim-tread-swim sequence without stopping
    • Swim 150 yards continuously demonstrating breath control and rhythmic breathing. Candidates may swim using the front crawl, breaststroke or a combination of both but swimming on the back or side is not allowed. Swim goggles may be used.
    • Immediately tread water for 2 minutes using only the legs.
    • Immediately swim an additional 50 yards
  • Complete a timed event within 1 minute, 40 seconds.
    • Starting in the water, swim 20 yards. The face may be in or out of the water. Swim goggles are not allowed.
    • Surface dive, feet-first or head-first, to a depth of 7 to 10 feet to retrieve a 10-pound object.
    • Return to the surface and swim 20 yards on the back to return to the starting point with both hands holding the object and keeping the face at or near the surface so they are able to get a breath. Candidates should not swim the distance under water. Exit the water without using a ladder or steps.


 Participants must be 15 years and older at the start of class and also pass a pre-test in order to take the class. Pre-test includes a swim-tread-swim sequence with no stopping as follows: swim 150 yards-tread 2 minutes with no hands - swim 50 yards. You must also retrieve a 10lb brick from the bottom of the deep end. Pre-tests may be arranged by calling the HCFC to schedule. The course fee is $300 and includes study manual & pocket mask. HCFC member fee is reduced to $250. Please bring lunch, bathing suit and towel to each class. Stop in to HCFC to register, payments can be made by cash, credit card or check. Certification Requirements

  • Register online and complete all modules BEFORE the course start date. You will be e-mailed instructions for the online course after you sign up for the class.
  • Attend and participate in all class sessions.
  • Demonstrate competency in all required skills and activities final rescue drills.
  • Pass final written exam with minimum grade of 80 percent.

Certificate Issued and Validity Period:

American Red Cross certificate for Lifeguarding/First Aid/CPR/AED: 2 years

Upon successful completion, cards will be e-mailed to you from the Red Cross using the e-mail you registered with the Red Cross at time of online registration.


Cost of Course: $325 (Cash or Check Only) (Includes online course, book, pocket mask)

Attendance to all classes is mandatory. Registration is now open and participants must register at least 1 week in advance.
